“I've worked with Karly for two winter training blocks now and each time I've been super happy with the outcome. When I first started working with PD, I was getting more comfortable in the 12- range; training with Karly made me feel way more solid in that grade and was also an essential part of what pushed me to 12+. Having the structure of a plan to reduce the mental load of a training block is great, but the movement skills and video feedback are what I keep coming back for.

I feel pretty comfortable building strength on my own, but what I didn't realize was that I was lacking the movement skills to fix bad technique and habits that were holding me back. As someone who started climbing in my 30s, Karly helped me identify and correct those in a way that truly elevated my climbing. On top of that, I feel like a much more well-rounded climber now--  like I can travel to any location and adjust more quickly and move more confidently on any type of rock.

Getting back into the spring season this year, I felt sooo smooth and intuitive on an old project-- and was able to send it in one day. Stoked to see all the hard work pay off!”

— Custom Training & Movement Athlete, Brittany Mitchell

No two climbers are the same, so why would their training be the same?

A woman rock climbing on a steep outdoor cliff with a forest and mountains in the background.
A woman rock climbing outdoors on a red sandstone formation, wearing grey leggings, a black hoodie, and climbing shoes.

Climber A and Climber B have both red pointed a dozen 12a routes, and both want to progress to the next level. Climber A can’t do a single pull-up, while Climber B can do ten.

Though they have similar goals and have sent similar grades, these climbers need very different training plans to reach new goals. Variations like this—and everything in-between—are common in a complex sport like climbing.

Climber A is great at vertical climbing and using their feet, but struggles on cruxes; Climber B boulders hard but struggles with endurance and moving efficiently.

how it works…

  1. Holistic Assessment:

An objective strength and movement assessment determine areas of physical and technical need. Then we meet with you to discuss your climbing and training experience, equipment, and more. The result? A comprehensive plan tailored to your climbing goals.

  2. Regular Check - ins:

Access your workout, record form videos, and receive weekly feedback at your fingertips on TrueCoach. Skip the planning headache, the am-I-doing-this-right uncertainty, and reduce injury risk with a coach’s support.

  3. Improvement You Can Track:

No longer guess at your progress. See your strength go up by the numbers, and learn how to apply your strength on the wall with movement feedback every week.

What athletes are saying…

“Project Direct totally changed my idea of what I thought was possible for my own climbing progression! Karly keenly identified weaknesses and wrote wonderfully structured sessions. I have seen my strength, technique, and climbing ability grow massively just in the past 12 weeks - I even flashed my first 5.12a on gear, in no small part due to Karly's training program! If you are trying to decide to enroll in one of Project Direct's programs - DO IT!”

- OLIVIA WETZEL

“Just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate you as my first climbing coach and what a difference your coaching has made for my climbing since working with you. I always dreaded having a ‘training programm’ and never followed through because it was always so cumbersome. Your coaching and training plans are so deceptively simple, but have made massive shifts in my mindset, power, and abilities. I appreciate you so much. Thanks for making a difference."

- PIER WU

“My favorite part of the program was having Karly design all of my workouts - there was no effort required on my part to figure out what I was doing every week. I just had to show up and get it done. The biggest difference I can see is the improvements in areas that have traditionally been my weaknesses. She specifically targeted power and overhanging terrain for me and the improvements have been incredible. If you’re on the fence about working with Project Direct, I’d ask how important is climbing to you and are you willing to make an investment in yourself to improve? For me, it was an easy yes and I can’t wait to work with Karly again!”

- BRITTANY DRAYCOTT

“I went from having done a couple of 12a Routes to redpointing a 12d in just a few weeks working with Karly.”

- TANiA CURIEL
